Month of the Military Child has begun!

Month of the Military Child is about coming together to recognise and better understand the unique lived experiences of children and young people who have a parent(s) serving in the armed forces.

Many unique experiences can build a strong sense of belonging and develop confidence to pursue positive futures; however, some experiences can present challenges to realising potential and thriving, both now and in the future.

Children from military families across Scotland have told us that lots of these unique experiences aren’t on the radar of civilian friends and classmates as well as adults supporting them or making important decisions about their future.

So, let’s learn more about these unique experiences!

From educators and professionals to children and young people from civilian families – get involved and find out more!

We have co-developed lots of resources with children and young people to help civilian peers, educators, professionals and decision makers to better understand what it’s like to be a forces child today.

Resources are co-produced with children and young people from the armed forces community across Scotland, who have contributed lived experience, creativity and ideas to make them happen.
