We have received the fantastic news that Sophie Khairallah has been selected for the National Junior Academy run by Scottish Swimming.

Having turned thirteen, Sophie has been swimming since she was three years old and has swum competitively at the district level for East Kilbride Swimming Club for the past five years.

The club realized Sophie’s abilities and potential at an early stage, whose commitment and dedication have seen a rapid rise through their youth development ranks.

Forces Children Scotland has worked in partnership with SSAFA to support Sophie’s rapid development over the past four years to cover her membership fees at the club.

The financial support received has enabled Sophie’s family to cover further costs associated with Sophie’s development, which have included costumes, equipment, and competition fees.

Sophie’s Mum, Riham Khairallah said:

“I would like to say thanks because without the help of Forces Children Scotland and SSAFA things might have been different – I can’t thank you enough.”

We asked Riham what she would say to other armed forces and veteran families whose children and young people could benefit from our Education and Aspiration Fund, who said:

“It’s definitely worth the call I made to Forces Children Scotland and SSAFA because, without their help, Sophie would be where she is – Give them a call to find out more.”

Forces Children Scotland’s Education and Aspiration Fund provides children and young people from armed forces and veteran families with a little extra financial support to realise their potential and thrive.

Get in touch today to find out more about how we can help to cover membership fees, sports coaching, musical tuition, equipment costs, and much more.
