We’re delighted to share that Forces Children Scotland has been named a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award winner. This is the second-highest badge of honour the Ministry of Defence awards to organisations that employ and support Reservists, service leavers, veterans and their families.

The award recognises employers who go above and beyond in supporting the Defence community, and we’re proud to be one of 19 organisations across the Lowlands of Scotland to receive it this year, out of 331 across the whole of the UK.

We are dedicated to working in step with the wider network of organisations supporting the Forces community and upholding the Armed Forces Covenant. In February 2024, we were presented with our Bronze Award, and reaching Silver means a great deal to us.

Steven Sweeney, our CEO, said:

“At Forces Children Scotland, it is very important to us that we align our values with the Armed Forces Covenant, that we support defence and inspire others to do the same. We are absolutely delighted and very proud to receive the Silver Award, which will mean so much to everybody involved in the charity: from the Reservists, Veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, to Armed Forces families, especially the young people leading the way with many aspects of our work. In both our team and Board of Trustees, all that we support, that we employ, that volunteer their time and expertise. Thank you very much to the Lowland Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association for their fantastic support and encouragement throughout the process.”

Thank you to the Armed Forces community for all that you do.

We’ll be presented with our ERS Silver Award at a special ceremony later this year — watch this space for more details.
