We’re proud to share that we’ve been awarded the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award, the second-highest honour the Ministry of Defence gives to organisations that employ and support Reservists, service leavers, veterans and their families.
On Tuesday 29 September, the Lowland Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (Lowland RFCA) hosted a special event at The Burrell Collection in Pollok Country Park. Almost 200 guests came together, including Reservists, Cadets, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs), Lord-Lieutenants and representatives from Forces-friendly organisations.
We were so pleased to be among the nineteen Lowland organisations receiving the Silver Award.
Brigadier Andy Muddiman ADC RM, Naval Regional Commander for Scotland and Northern Ireland, presented the awards on behalf of the Secretary of State for Defence. Our colleagues Gemma Brown and Ethel Mendius Craig were there to collect the award.

It is very important to us that we align our values with the Armed Forces Covenant, that we support Defence and inspire others to do the same. We are absolutely delighted to receive the Silver Award, which means so much to everybody involved in the charity: from the Reservists, Veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, Armed Forces families, and the children and young people at the heart of our work.
Thank you to the Lowland RFCA for their support and encouragement throughout the process, and congratulations to our fellow recipients. We received the ERS Bronze Award in early 2024,and our next aim is to go for the gold in our support for the Armed Forces community.
