We fully support the statement by the Children and Young People’s Commissioner for Scotland. This decision fails to deliver children’s rights to an education that promotes the development of their personality, talents, and mental and physical abilities.
The recommendations of the Hayward Review outlined an innovative programme of teaching and assessment that was developed with and for children. Just months after the commencement of the UNCRC Incorporation Act, it is devastating that the guiding principles have not been followed.
The changes proposed by the Hayward Review were in children’s best interests and had their voices at the heart.
