Forces Children Scotland invites educators and professionals to attend a free online webinar to introduce the experiences and views of children and young people from armed forces and veteran families communities.

This co-learning session explores the experiences of children and young people from Armed Forces and Veteran families through the lens of the Armed Forces Covenant and provides an overview of the policy context in the UK and Scotland. The session will aim to upskill professionals on the legal obligations placed on public bodies across the areas of education, health and housing; providing opportunities for participants to learn from each other and to reflect on the information provided by young people.

Who is this event for?

Anyone with an interest in this subject is invited to join us at this learning session. However, we believe this will be most relevant for those who work in education, health and housing to understand their obligations under the Covenant Duty. The session will be a medium for attendees to engage with this topic and discuss what it means for their practice.

Key Learning

  • Background to the development of the Armed Forces Covenant.
  • Exploration of the Covenant principles and what this means in practice.
  • Exploration of the legal obligations introduced by the Covenant Duty and what this means for public bodies delivering education, health and housing services.
  • Consideration of how to apply the Covenant and Duty, learning from existing good practice.
