These resources will be useful for anyone who may know or work directly with young people from the armed forces community – from teachers and civilian classmates to NHS workers, sports coaches, decision makers and much more.
This free resource is for anyone who wants to know a little more about the positive and challenging aspects of life in armed forces and veteran family to enhance understanding and empathy.
We received funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and ABF: The Soldiers Charity, and worked in partnership with Dekko Comics, Edinburgh Napier University and Connect Communications to make things happen.
The board game is a take on traditional snakes and ladders, and the young people involved in the project have created special gaming cards to share lived experiences and to introduce a fun-based point-scoring system.
Young people have shared their lived experiences further to co-develop five short stories in a comic book that accompanies the board game, which includes topics like parental deployment, postings, relocations, and new schools.
