Funding

We have received a wonderful thank you letter from Piper Nugent, who received financial support from Forces Children Scotland Young Carers Fund.

A young carer is someone aged twenty-five and under, who cares for a friend or family member who, due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, cannot cope without their support.

Our specific young carers fund is there to provide financial support to children and young people caring for friends and loved ones who are from serving, reservist and veteran families across Scotland.

Piper comes from a family whose dad is serving in the Army. Her mother has a chronic health condition which means she can get tired quickly and spends time in hospital, so Piper helps a lot around the house and provides important emotional support.

Having applied to Forces Children Scotland, financial support was provided to purchase a tablet which enables Piper to enjoy face time with her dad and play games to take a break from her caring responsibilities.

Better still, Forces Children Scotland has also contributed financial support towards activity sessions running over the summer which will allow Piper to participate in outdoor activities with her friends whilst mum takes a break too.

Forces Children Scotland supports young carers from armed forces and veteran families, who will be able to help with most cases for support, so please do not hesitate to get in touch.
