At Forces Children Scotland, we are passionate about supporting children and young people from armed forces and veteran families to realise their potential and thrive. It’s something we have been doing for over two-hundred years!

We’ve developed a range of services that help support things like mental health and wellbeing, education and learning and much more. These are built based on listening to the needs of children and young people and research evidence.

Our work is only possible with the generous donations of our supporters. Through regular or one-off giving, you can help improve the lives of armed forces and veteran families across Scotland.

Whatever you can commit makes a huge difference.

We have very exciting plans for the future to reach and support greater numbers of children and young people from armed forces and veteran families across Scotland.

Committing as little as £5 a month will help us:

  • Work directly with more children and young people from armed forces and veteran families to co-produce projects, services, and campaigns.
  • Deliver life-changing experiences to develop new skills, build confidence and forge new friendships.
  • Support children and young people to better understand and enhance their mental health and wellbeing.
  • Reduce isolation and loneliness through our youth forums and much more.
  • Help educators and professionals to better understand forces life and adapt practice to meet unique education support needs.
  • Deliver rapid financial assistance which responds to specific needs when it matters most to overcome financial hardship and to help others to dream big and pursue positive futures.

Residential reflections

Forces Children Scotland delivered a three-day creative documentary-making residential for young people in partnership with creative agency, Rebel Loop Studios.

Eight young people from armed forces families travelled from across Scotland to Glasgow to complete a series of workshops that introduced storyboarding, scripting, mobile phone and SLR camera recording techniques, and much more.

Once basics were grasped, the young people learned how to conduct one-to-one interviews, and then put everything they had learned into practice through fun-based group recording projects.

Having generated lots of fantastic content, the young people learned how to edit their footage into a professional final cut to create two fantastic short pieces about life in a forces family.

Hear from Josh and Izzy as they reflect on their experience.

Become a positive force for good.

Regular giving enables us to plan to make big changes for the future; all of which will make a real difference to over 12,500 children and young people from armed forces communities across Scotland.

Help to overcome unique challenges when it comes to mental health and wellbeing, education and learning and much more to realise their potential and thrive.
