Things like deployment and uncertainty concerning loved ones, bereavement, living with a family member with life-changing physical or psychological wounds, regular relocations as well as disrupted friendships, activities, and routines can present detrimental effects on education and learning, mental health and wellbeing, and much more.
Some have told us that they have felt a growing pressure to adapt and maintain day-to-day routines amidst what can prove either a rapid or gradual transformational change, leading to an acute sense of loss with regard to belonging, community, relationships, and identity.
Many of these challenges are simply not on the radar of civilian audiences. Therefore, there are so many unaware of how forces life can impact upon a child’s ability to realise their potential and thrive, both now and in the future.
We have very exciting plans for the future to reach and support greater numbers of children and young people from armed forces and veteran families across Scotland.
