Victoria is our new Youth Participation Worker for Central Scotland.
She will work with children and young people from armed forces and families in schools and community settings to co-develop projects that amplify their lived experience to help others to better understand the lives they lead and to inspire meaningful change for over 12,500 peers across Scotland.
Better still, Victoria will ensure the unique support needs are met to help this community to realise their potential and thrive.
We caught up with Victoria to find out more about what inspired her to join the team, as well as the knowledge, skills, and experience that she brings to the role.
“I wanted to work for an organisation that truly values young people and puts their voice at the heart of all that it does. Forces Children Scotland does exactly that!
“The opportunity to become a Youth Participation Worker and get involved in projects that are co-produced with young people was a no-brainer for me. Forces Children Scotland see the young people they work with as their most valuable asset, and I share this view.
“I am over the moon to have been given the opportunity to be part of a team who share my values and are a force for good.”
“Through my role as a primary teacher for eight years, I have gained valuable experience, skills and knowledge that will positively impact the service here at Forces Children Scotland.
“I have a person-centred approach and will go above and beyond to ensure each child flourishes and reaches their full potential. I consider their strengths to promote their wellbeing. I have gained knowledge of what true partnership working with young people looks like and have used this relationship as a driving force for change.
“I am skilled at effective communication and will listen to the young people I work with at Forces Children Scotland allowing them to self-advocate.”
“The opportunity to learn from young peoples’ lived experience. I am excited to get to know them and their unique experience, to help facilitate change through their voice and positively impact their lives.”
