Home and routines during transition

Ruby Boots

As a Forces child, you may need to move house. This might be exciting, or make you feel sad or worried. There is no right or wrong way to feel!

When your parent leaves the Armed Forces and becomes a Veteran, things at home can change too:

  • Your parent might be home more.
  • Your usual routines might be different.
  • You might have new rules, new responsibilities or more time together.

Some of these changes can feel great, but some many feel  annoying or strange. And sometimes you might not notice much change at all. There’s no right way to feel.

These activities and resources are here to help you settle in a little easier and cope with change.

Are you finding your place in Scotland? Forces Corner, co-designed with young people by us and YoungScot, highlights helpful information for those new to Scotland, including how to use the Young Scot National Entitlement Card (which comes with free bus travel if you’re under 22).
