Finding Your North

When the world feels uncertain, children need space to understand what they are feeling.

Global conflict and geopolitical instability are no longer distant issues for children and young people. We are developing an evidence-informed peer support programme that helps children and young people from Armed Forces families navigate the feelings and challenges associated with global uncertainty and conflict.

We’re grateful to have an opportunity to meet this need, thanks to generous funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.

Beginning in Cyprus, we’ll be working with the local Armed Forces community to develop a programme for Forces children and young people affected by uncertainty and global conflict. We’ll be working in partnership with MacKillop Seasons and MOD Community Learning and Development (CLD) teams.

This project will be led by the voices and experiences of children, young people, parents and practitioners. MacKillop Seasons will also be drawing on learning from their Stormbirds programme, which provides support to young people following natural disasters.

This project is now underway, and our Deputy CEO, with programme delivery set to begin in early 2027. We’ll use our learning to co-produce Finding Your North with children and young people from Forces families across Scotland.
