We all understand how difficult it is to raise funds right now.
Having set a conservative fundraising target of £150, we are delighted to share the news that Lucy has raised over £400.00 to date, via Just Giving.
Lucy Beck (pictured left) celebrates completing the Glasgow Women’s 10K fundraising event.
As a forces child, Lucy is very much aware of the unique challenges children and young people from the armed forces community can face when it comes to realising their potential and thriving.
“I’m fundraising for Forces Children Scotland because, as a forces child myself, I understand the unique challenges faced by children in military families. Frequent relocations, parental deployments, and constant uncertainty can take a toll on our mental health and education.
Forces Children Scotland provides essential support, advocacy, and resources to help us thrive despite these challenges. By fundraising, I hope to give back to an organisation that understands our struggles and works tirelessly to ensure we have the opportunities and support we need to succeed.”
Reflecting on her experience, Lucy exemplified the same courage and determination demonstrated by those who served in the armed forces to overcome adversity to ensure she made the finish line in Glasgow.
“After a small altercation at the 6K mark I had to slow the pace down to reduce injury, costing me my target of under an hour, but overall finished with high spirits despite this! My official time was 1:00:12, so happy enough with that but definitely room to improve for next time.
Overall had a great time and would highly recommend anyone else looking to take part in the future to do so! I will definitely continue my training to run the women’s 10k again with the hopes of perhaps running a half marathon in the next few years.”
