Co-production

Co-production summary

Co-production seeks to actively engage the users of services in the design, implementation, and evaluation of projects, services and campaigns.

Co-production is increasingly seen as a way to improve service delivery, enhance democratic participation, and build stronger, more resilient communities.

Key Elements of Co-Production:

  1. Collaboration: It involves genuine partnerships between professionals and service users to share knowledge, experiences, and skills.
  2. Empowerment: Co-production aims to empower service users by valuing their input and giving them a meaningful role in the decision-making process.
  3. Shared Responsibility: Both the service providers and users share responsibility for the outcomes, leading to a sense of ownership and investment in the success of the project.
  4. Mutual Benefit: Co-production results in better-designed services that more closely meet the needs of users, leading to higher satisfaction and more effective solutions.

Combined|Force Co-production Methodology

Putting lived experience of young people from armed forces communities at the heart of everything.

We work directly with beneficiaries to co-produce projects, services, and campaigns through our method of co-production, called ‘Combined|Force’.

Participation proves highly effective in fostering a sense of ownership, empowerment, and confidence amongst children and young people.

Better still, they feel listened to and that their contributions are valued to deliver innovative, relevant, tailored, and effective outputs to meet unique support needs.

Many beneficiaries have said it helped to develop a stronger affinity with our charity.

Others said participation helped to develop valuable transferrable skills, including problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork that strengthened personal statements, employability capital, and CVs.

What young people say.

We asked pupils from Queen Victoria School about their experience co-producing a podcast series with Forces Children Scotland.

The podcasts were co-created to make things easier for younger pupils making the change from state to boarding school.

The series shared first-day experiences and insight into routines, sports and wider experiences at Queen Victoria School,

Learn more about what the pupils said about building confidence, developing new skills and expanding aspiration.
