Youth Participation | Samira joins the team to take our exciting plans forward in the north of Scotland

Forces Children Scotland welcomes Samira Nicholson to the team, who has begun her role as our Youth Participation Worker for the North of Scotland.

Samira has worked with children and young people in a variety of settings for over ten years, and previously worked at Action for Children to provide support for young people seeking to enter or re-enter employment or education.

Having completed her first couple of weeks with Forces Children Scotland, we caught up with Samira to ask her a few questions about her experience so far, and her plans to support greater numbers of children and young people from serving, reservist and veteran families.

Tell us about your first couple of weeks with Forces Children Scotland?

“The team have been lovely, and I feel very welcomed by everyone. It has been interesting learning about the work in my local community to do with Forces Families, and I look forward to working local organisations, agencies and people to provide support for Forces Children and Young People.”

What exciting things do you have planned for children and young people?

“Lots of exciting opportunities, events and activities are planned for this year – there are a few residentials, and I have created lots of interactive and interesting session plans that I plan on using in my local schools and community groups focused on Forces Children and Young People!”

Forces Children Scotland supports children and young people from serving, reservist and veteran families across Scotland. Why not give Samira an email to find out more about how we can support you.
