Youth Participation | Charity calls on forces young people to lead ground-breaking creative campaign

Forces Children Scotland has received funding from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and ABF: The Soldier’s Charity to co-produce a ground-breaking creative campaign with young people from serving, reservist and veteran families across Scotland.

The campaign will provide an immersive, creative opportunity to share lived experience and co-create a powerful communication to inspire and reach greater numbers of peers and help civilian audiences better understand the lives they lead.

Gary Seath, Marketing, Communications and Development Manager for Forces Children Scotland, said:

“We strive to be an asset-based organisation with a co-production approach underpinning our work, which means the unique experiences of young people serve as our most valuable asset and their voice is at the heart of everything we do.

“Our campaign will provide a fantastic platform for young people to come together as a creative force to share lived experience and co-create a powerful communication in such a new innovate way which will resonate louder than ever before.”

Forces Children Scotland will co-produce the campaign with specialist co-creation agency, Effervescent, which has established a strong reputation for collaborating with children and young people to co-produce impactful campaigns.

Rich Halliday, Chief Executive Officer of Effervescent, said:

“We’re over the moon to be working with Forces Children Scotland. Both organisations are passionate about giving young people a voice and are totally committed to co-production – so we’re a great fit.

“We want to help people understand what it’s like to be a forces child today, and there’s no better way to do that than to co-design a campaign with a group of forces children themselves… so we can’t wait to get started!”

A recruitment drive will launch next month to encourage young people from serving, reservist and veteran families to form a working group, together with staff from Forces Children Scotland and Effervescent, to co-develop the campaign.
