Having spent much of the past two years spent in lockdown or adapting to ever-changing coronavirus restrictions, it is great to see many well-known challenge events making a return to face-to-face physical formats during the Autumn of 2021.
You may have taken major strides forward in improving your fitness during this time. Alternatively, it may have been something you wanted to do during lockdown, however, so many other things were simply more important to focus on.
No matter what your level of fitness is at the moment, there are a number of challenge events coming up for all ages and abilities to get their trainers back on and set themselves some fitness goals to raise money in support of the Royal Caledonian Eduction Trust.
Challenge events are a brilliant way to re-connect face-to-face with your wider community through group-orientated goals by getting your friends, work colleagues and family involved to plan training days and make it more of a regular social catch-up in the run up to the event.
What’s more, if you have concerns about returning to mass participation events, all the events listed below will take place outside in the fresh air, lateral flow testing is encouraged and social distancing between participants can be easily maintained.
Take a look at some of the challenge fundraising opportunities coming up below:
Date: Sunday 26th September 2021
Kiltwalks are mass participation walking events that raise much-needed funds for Scottish charities and projects. Kiltwalkers can raise funds for any charity of their choice and thanks to the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation, all funds raised will be topped up by 50%! Participants are encouraged to wear their kilts or any other tartan attire they own.
Men’s and Women’s 10K
Date: Sunday 24th October 2021
The Men’s and Women’s 10K provides a proactive and challenging way to engage men and women in healthy physical activity and to promote health and wellbeing all year round. It’s an all-inclusive event that celebrates an individual’s accomplishment regardless of their finish time. They actively encourage men and women who have not previously exercised or have not exercised in a while to use the event as a motivational tool to get off the couch and get fit!
